* Peace be unto You !
In the Semitic languages, word shalowm [Mwlv , shaw-lome]“Shalom in Hebrew and ‘Shel-awm’ in Armaic “Salaam” in Arabic literally means "peace" and are cognates of each other, derived from the Semitic Triconsonantal of Ś-L-M (realized in Hebrew as Š-L-M, Greek; eirhnh eirene i-ray'-nay]. Peace is so important, that it occurs at about 400 places in the Bible (Old Testament:296, New Testament:104). Some quotations are:
· “And the work of righteousness shall bepeace and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance forever” (Isaiah;32:17)
· “Depart from evil, and do good; Seek peace and pursue it” (Psalms;34:14).
· “Moreover I will make a ‘Covenant of Peace with them; it shall be an everlasting covenant with them:…”. (Ezekiel;37:26).
· “There is no peace, says my God, to the wicked” (Isaiah;57:21).
Word Peace, [Sholam] is frequently used to express greetings, salutation (Genesis;43:23, Exodus;4:18). Jesus Christ greeted in the same way:
· “Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you:” (John;20:21)
· “And as they thus spoke, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and said unto them, Peace be unto you.”(Luke;24:36).
* As token of love & respect to Jesus Christ; his greeting of ‘Peace’ is offered to you.
